Always there for you in an emergency!

Dear children and adolescents, parents and relatives,

New regulations for emergency departments in German hospitals took effect on 1 April 2017. The responsible assessment subcommittee has intended them to reduce admissions to emergency departments of patients with so-called non-urgent medical problems.

The reason: emergency departments are only intended for people with severe illnesses.

Hospitals are therefore obliged to refer patients with minor illnesses and injuries to general practitioners or their on-call medical services.

This means that genuine emergency patients can be treated faster because our doctors have more time for those who need urgent and acute care.

The right doctor at the right time

You can access assistance here:

• Your child’s medical care is in the hands of your pediatrician or family general practitioner, who knows your child best and whom you trust ( www.arztsuche-niedersachsen.de of Kassenärztlichen Vereinigung Niedersachsen).

• In addition to their own surgery hours, the registered pediatricians of Hanover offer an on-call service on our premises.
Opening hours:
Mon, Tue, Thu: 7 pm to 10 pm
Wed and Fri: 4 pm to 10 pm
Sat, Sun and public holidays: 9 am to 10 pm

The right choice in many cases: dial 116117
Outside of normal practice hours, you can access the assistance of the on-call medical service in cases of urgent, not life-threatening illness by dialing the Germany-wide number 116117 – even during the night, at weekends and on public holidays.

Only in an emergency: dial 112
In principle: emergency departments and ambulances should only be used in life-threatening emergencies. These include, for example, loss of consciousness, acute bleeding, breathing difficulties, poisoning, injuries or accidents.
